September 2016

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the start of a new school year!  It is an exciting time for students as they meet old friends, make new friends and meet their new teacher.  It is a time of new beginnings, a time to embrace new learning and opportunities in their path of growth.

Education has always been the cornerstone of America’s success. Throughout our history we have recognized the importance of educating our children to meet the ever changing needs of our society.  Today is it recognizing the ever changing needs of a global society and how rapidly these changes are occurring.

It is the responsibility of all members of the school community and the community at large to work together to ensure our children will be prepared to enter into a changing world that we cannot imagine.  This commitment to our children begins with the home-school partnership.  The single variable that research has identified as to the success of the child is tied to the strength of that partnership. Please join us on this journey of discovering new learning, embracing and accepting new challenges and new opportunities.  You can support your child by attending various functions such as Back to School Night, parent/teacher conferences, programs that the district offers for parents and joining your child’s school PTA.  Take time each day to talk to your child about their day, review homework with them and encourage them to participate in extracurricular activities the district offers.

Learning is life-long.  It is our hope that we inspire children to love learning for the sake of learning and to help them understand the need to learn throughout life’s journey.  We are committed to fostering that love of learning and sense of wonder.  We have a dedicated staff of professionals who care about your children and are committed to providing them with an excellent education.  The Board of Education and staff recognize the importance of the school system in the community of Bloomingdale.  Together we will continue to work toward improving student achievement, and give all students successful learning experiences in clean, safe and nurturing environments.  I invite you to join us on your child’s journey of learning.

Sincerely,

Elaine Baldwin
